Artist Statement

My still lifes are very detailed and realistic.  I find watercolor exciting with its sometimes unpredictable results.  I create my watercolor paintings using only six transparent, primary, staining colors resulting in color harmony but still producing every conceivable color and value. My preference of painting surface is Arches #140 cold press paper. It is always exciting for me to see my artwork develop from first thoughts, preliminary sketches and ending with the final brushstroke.

I received a BA in Art Education from Alverno College, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have been a professional artist since retiring from teaching art K-12 in the Milwaukee area receiving numerous awards for my artwork. Many of my creations are in private and public collections throughout the United States including the Springfield Art Museum in Springfield, Missouri. I have been doing workshops, demonstrations, critiques, and jurying for art groups throughout my home state of Wisconsin. Recently I was invited to have a solo invitational exhibition at Gallery 110 in Plymouth, WI, a two person exhibition at the Schauer Art Gallery in Hartford, Wisconsin and was a featured artist at The Fine Line Gallery in the Third Ward, Milwaukee, WI.
